Whether your child loves to read, or hasn't yet found that love, it is my goal to help your child grow as a reader. We will be doing many fun reading activities and "challenges" to help foster a love for reading. Some of our challenges include the 40 book challenge, and the SSYRA challenge. One of the best ways to encourage your child is to just ask about what they are reading. What do they like about the book? What do they maybe not like about it?
As a grade level, we require students to be testing on AR points. This should be a piece of cake because part of our ELA homework is to read for 30 minutes each night. Here are the requirements for fourth grade students:

*If a student receives 100 points by the end of the year, he or she will earn a certificate award at the Awards Ceremony. This is an extemely achievable goal and I would love to see 100% of the class earn this!
